Episode #161: In which we’re all kinds of into Professor Layton

We’re going to see Coheed & Cambria tonight, but miraculously don’t talk about them or Rock Band too much. Instead it’s more Trials HD and Professor Layton, which are both pretty awesome. Is it worth it to buy a lower price 360 Elite or PS3 Slim? You’ll have to listen to find out!

…or we can just say that ‘they’re good prices but still cost $300.’

Episode #160: In which crashing a virtual motorcycle is really, really fun

This week Dave’s bought the Summer of Arcade, so we talk about that for a while. Then there’s that PS3 Slim thing, and honestly Dan doesn’t want to sound like a fanboy but he can’t really recommend people buy it. We also discuss Call of Duty 4 bullshots, Monkey Island and — of course — Rock Band.

Episode #159: In which the new Game of Life is great, but the new Monopoly can suck it. New Clue, you’re on thin ice.

More iPhone news, including board games. There are new versions of Clue and Life and so on. Guitar Hero is making a run at Rock Band, and I’d almost buy it if I could import World Tour songs. DS hardware revisions? Is the DSi worth it? We’ve both got originals, and Dan has a DS Lite somewhere in his house. Oh yeah, there’s a lot of Poketalk. But if you didn’t expect that by now, you shouldn’t really be listening anyway.

Episode #158: In which there’s an app for that

We talk about iPhone games and pricing structures: how much is too much? For that cheapass Dan, pretty much anything. Then we hear Fiddy is in Modern Warfare 2? I suspect we will be disappointed by the lack of bigass ramps. Then there are people complaining about Left 4 Dead (no, REALLY?) and Dan tries to wax philosophical but no one cares. The video show is missing, so if you’ve noticed then let us know and we’ll try to find it.

Episode #157: In which we’re back in rss

Yeah, so, uh, sorry about not having a working rss feed for a few months. We’re back now! To celebrate, we kept it short and sweet, though hopefully still entertaining. We focus on our old standby genres, adventure games and the music genre, and while Dave is contet to bemoan the lack of Coheed, Dan expands his demands to the soon-to-be-defunct Harvey Danger. Oh, and Bookworm is totally awesome.

Episode #156: In which The Beatles are Dave’s favoritest band ever!

That’s what we in the biz call ‘sarcasm,’ by the way. We pretty much go back to our roots here, with a fairly Halo and Rock Band centric show. Master Chief saying ‘kawaii!’? Dan’s much more loving towards Bungie than he was a few weeks ago, and also is all about Monkey Island. Dave’s been too busy working 22 hours a day to play many games, but he does have some hands-on experience to relate when we talk about The Force Unleashed.

Episode #155: In which Vin Diesel makes any game awesome

Sorry for the delay in show posting; server issues, that pesky real life thing, etc. You understand. Monkey Island, Terminator and Wheelman were what we focused on this week. Wheelman isn’t all that great, but it DOES have explosions and wheels popping and jumping cars and Riddick so that’s cool. The biggest news, of course, was the Rock Band Network, which is going to revolutionize Rock Band and make everything awesome. Or not. But probably.

Episode #154: In which we do infinity times two damage

No video show this week, but we compensate with some annoying sound effects! Well, maybe they’re annoying. Maybe they’re awesome? If you have comments either way, or want to suggest sounds for us to use, let us know. There’s also a short discussion of Coheed and vinyl records, in addition to some actual — wait for it — video game news! Dan finally finished Prototype, Dave finished Mirror’s Edge, and then we’ll be jumping into Band of Bugs, which incidentally will be having avatar support soon.

Also, there will be no show next week as Dan will be in Chicago. Sorry!

Episode #153: In which we forget to talk about muffin tops

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

A tad on the short side, but apparently the business side of gaming went crazy this week. We also wax rhapsodically on Rock Band (yes, still), among other games. Dan’s still on about Prototype, and Dave’s pushing through Mirror’s Edge to spite the world. We also forget to talk about a very important topic at the end of the show: muffin tops. We understand that they’re good and all, but you can’t sell just the top. How can you have a top without a bottom, we ask? You can sooner have shadow without light, good without evil.

Episode #152: In which Dave hates B bands

After a two week hiatus we’re back, 100% married and ready to talk about all that stuff that happened while we were gone. E3? That happened, indeed. Dan is full of disdain, hating on both Bungie and Project Natal. Dave, meanwhile, projects his hate at the Beastie Boys and the Beatles, ensuring that he’s not really interested in any of the rhythm games coming out this fall. Then there’s a discussion of Prototype, UFC and Wallace and Gromit, among others.
