Word on the street is that Microsoft is going to be dropping their proprietary currency system being used on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Website Inside Mobile Apps is reporting that Microsoft will be moving toward using real currency over the course of the next year and, by the end of 2012, Microsoft points will be a thing of the past.
Those who have a bank of points will find them converted into their cash value once the switch takes place, according to the rumor.
This is providing some division in the community. Some people are unhappy that the current system leaves you with small amounts of unused points, while others are lamenting the potential death of semi-regular sales on points. We await Microsoft’s stance on the matter.
