Those who have been cursing Microsoft for their overpriced HDD will be pleased to know that it will eventually no longer be the only way to store gigs upon gigs of data. According to a story posted on Joystiq the 360 will soon allow users to hook up USB storage devices to their Xbox 360.
The storage device must be at least one gigabyte in size, with no maximum limit. The 360 itself will provide an artificial cap at 16 gigs, though users can circumvent this and double the limit they plug two devices in. Bigger is better in this case, however, as the documentation Joystiq obtained states the following: “The system partition occupies 512 MB of space, and by default the consumer partition occupies the remainder of the device capacity, or 16 GB, whichever is smaller.”
The update is supposedly coming in Spring 2010. Microsoft has yet to make an official statement on the matter.

And suddenly, Rock Band could be taken on the road.
I wonder if I’ll be able to partition 16 gigs of my 250 gig drive and still have an external hdd…
