It’s day three of our five day countdown which brings us to our third most anticipated title for 2010. If you haven’t been keeping track make sure you also check out day five and four.

Pokemon Heartgold
Pokemon is a perfect example of a Nintendo franchise in that it never goddamn changes. Each game is the exact same as the last, with some incremental updates. And yet… and yet I eat them all up. I had actually broken the habit, and was perhaps going to be able to resist the siren call of the Johto region, but on Christmas Dave gave me the gift of obsession when we decided to focus on battling with a level 50 cap (rather than no cap, and I’ve yet to get any Pokemon to 100). So now I’ve been spending my nights cradling my infant son in one hand and, in the other, hatching Teddiursa after Teddiursa trying to finally get one with an Adament nature in the other. I am going to have to dump a box full of cute little teddy bears in the dumpster behind the Pokemart because they just weren’t good enough. And they call it a kid’s game.

3D Dot Game Heroes
What do you get when you cross old-school action-RPG conventions and Lego blocks? Why, 3D Dot Game Heroes of course! This game looks like what my 8-year-old self was trying to accomplish with the castle sets my mother used to provide, only I didn’t have enough blue blocks to create a real ocean. 3D Dot Game Heroes is the realization of my childhood fantasies.

Halo Reach
Halo is a franchise that I’ve invested more time into than just about any other since the release of Halo 2. The thing is though, I’ve spent less and less time with each release and yet I’m still excited to see how this all plays out. Since this is supposedly the last Halo title from Bungie, I feel like this is a must play title due to the time I’ve put into the series. We still don’t have a ton of information about what this game will even be, but what we do know is that it is supposed to come out this year, and we can expect a multiplayer beta sometime before it releases… which somehow is enough for me.
