Are you angry that an Xbox Live Gold membership costs so damn much? Perhaps the new rewards program Microsoft is testing will soothe the savage beast. The official website for Microsoft’s Xbox Live Rewards program has gone live (thanks to Joystiq) and it looks like they’re actually planning on giving something back to their customers.
The trial run is being conducted by Xbox Live members who have been notified by email. Microsoft will likely determine the future of the program based on the data provided in the trial. According to the chart, users will be given Microsoft points for completing certain tasks, such as renewing their Gold memberships (kind of simple) to completing surveys. Note these are Microsoft points, not Achievement points, so they’ll actually be able to spend these on XBLA games or DLC. It’s also worth noting that they won’t actually have the ability to spend these points until the program’s first three months have completed. Odd, but still, it’s free money.
The trial run will be in effect until April 30th. Here’s hoping the program is a resounding success.

As I’ve said recently, right now there isn’t much to keep me subscribing to Gold regularly. Getting MS points back, though, that would be nice. Not necessarily enough to keep me going, but given enough time that could be an arcade game, or maybe a silly piece of clothing for my avatar.
And hell, if I’m bored, let’s take a few surveys. Why not?
