Those who recently purchased a DSi may find themselves a little miffed, because Nintendo has revealed yet another upgrade to the DS system. The DSi LL is coming out in Japan on November 21, 2009 and the announcement page has all the information. You can read it yourself if you can read Japanese, but those who can’t can find information on the system in the next paragraph.
The LL (which is the Japanese equivalent of XL) sports a bigger set of screens, 4.2 inches to the normal DSi’s 3.25 inch displays. The displays sport a resolution of 256 x 192. Those with bigger hands (adults?) will surely appeciate the stylus’ increased size. The price is 20,000 yen, which translates to about $221 and is available in three colors: Wine Red, Dark Brown, or Natural White. The battery has also seen an upgrade as well, so the system should last longer.
This is certainly the quickest DS revision we’ve seen from Nintendo yet. The DSi was just released in Japan on November 1, 2008 (April 5, 2009 in North America), so the November 22 release date puts just over a year between them. Compare that to the distance between the DSLite and the DSi, which clocks in at about two and a half years, or the two years and change between the DSLite and the original DS and you have to wonder why an upgrade was released so soon.
Be sure to check out the pictures below to see comparison shots with the outdated normal DSi, and shots of the different colors as well. More information can also be found on official page.

Honestly, I dunno. I think I’d prefer the normal DSi at this point. I have an original DS and have bemoaned the nonportability of it (I mean, I can take it places, yeah, but it doesn’t fit in my pocket unobtrusively). The XL isn’t just bigger, it’s a hell of a lot bigger. I’d like a bigger screen, but I think they overdid it.
